This project is about dance. It’s about freedom. It’s about creating an open atmosphere where live music, live mixing, and party people interlace and commingle for a beautiful blend of sound, movement, and spirit.

DJ Duane Powell, “the custodian of the indie soul movement” and founder of the nationally known Sunday Service party, puts down his musical machinations in concert with Osun’s Waters, the five-piece, woman-led band fronted by poet Khari B. Osun’s Waters and known for its performances at Chicago’s infamous Debauchery Ball.    

Together, these powerful energies will combine for an off-the-cuff, improvisational set where the live tunes and DJ’d music will integrate, unbroken throughout the session, and intersperse with Khari B.’s poetry–all with the intention of making the People move. This will be an interactive conversation, concert, and carousal arousal of the senses that harkens back to Discopoetry’s legendary moments at the HotHouse.
